The Country Shop streamlines its recycling journey with plug-and-play TOMRA B5 Combi

Letterfrack, Ireland: The Country Shop supermarket, located in the small village of Letterfrack, in the Connemara area of Galway, chose the TOMRA B5 Combi reverse vending machine for its affordability, and ease of use for both its customers and store personnel.

Container return progress

With the installation of the TOMRA B5 Combi, The Country Shop hopes to encourage recycling among its customers and support the collection of used beverage containers for recycling.  The store has experienced a positive response from users since the machine’s installation, and a steady increase in container returns in the subsequent weeks since the reverse vending machine was installed in February 2024. Eeamon Lorey, the store manager, expressed that since the scheme is new, efforts to educate his customers has been a high focus and that he was “optimistic by the positive response”.

Why TOMRA B5 Combi?

Damien Cleary, Business Development Manager for TOMRA Collection Ireland, declares that the TOMRA B5 Combi streamlines the recycling process, saving time for both retailers and consumers. When asked about the latest addition to TOMRA’s portfolio to The Country Shop, Cleary says: "For a simple reason, it was price point and its capacity. Its infeed speed and its ease of use with the 21-inch screen."

Reflecting on the reverse vending solution, Lorey believes it to be a positive addition, and encourages other stores to consider adopting it. "The system, I think, is a good thing and I think more stores should take it up. So, I would recommend it [TOMRA B5] here," he concludes.
